About Me

I’ve spent 20 years planning and running tradeshows and events, with the last decade focused on med device and biotech. I’m happiest hands-on, managing all the logistics, tracking sponsorship deliverables, and being onsite making sure it all comes together.

Career Highlights

  • Tradeshow Planning & Execution: Managed 75 regional and 17 national shows in a single year

  • Budget management: Managed $1M in combined national and regional tradeshow budgets; including $400K in regional tradeshow budgets for 13 area directors, and reported results for 75 regional shows.

  • Physician education: Ran 8 national programs on a $900K budget; physician programs 16–20 physicians and two APP programs of ~60 attendees..

  • Association relationships: Built strong ties with the associations that host tradeshows, so they came to me first with new sponsorship and exhibit opportunities.

  • Sponsorship tracking: Created trackers for ad deadlines, specs, and status for every show, and worked with marketing to deliver assets on time.

  • Trusted by leadership: Chosen by Axonics’ Chief Medical Officer to support physician education planning, then hired by Boston Scientific’s CMO and directors.

How I Work

Tackling tradeshows requires looking at the big picture and then creating detailed plans.

Examples of my work: I conceptualize, I plan, I organize, and I execute.

Tradeshows rarely go exactly as planned. Here’s how I handle the unexpected.

Case Study 1: The MISSING Equipment

THE CHALLENGE

At an international tradeshow in 2023, critical supplies for our wet lab were missing the night before the show.

MY RESPONSE

I gained access to the show’s shipping dock but sadly the containers were empty. Then I tracked down the vendor only to learn the items were never shipped. I then worked to get the materials flown to the show.

THE RESULT

The day was saved. Our wetlab was ready to go when the tradeshow opened.

Case Study 3: A Wall To Wall Problem

THE CHALLENGE

In 2024, at a major annual tradeshow, we arrived to find a wall that ran directly through our booth space.

On one side of the wall, a tiny sliver of the prime booth space we paid for and on the other side, sat hundreds of physicians attending a symposium.

MY RESPONSE

Since the wall could not be moved until the symposium ended that evening, I worked with show management to install electrical needs and carpeting for that day, plus credits for all charges incurred and for future tradeshows.

THE RESULT

Although we had to scramble, we assembled the booth at breakneck speed, where it opened on time as scheduled.

Case Study 2: The Missing Booth

THE CHALLENGE

In 2014, our 10’x15' tradeshow booth was lost by UPS ahead of a major tradeshow.

MY RESPONSE

I tracked the shipment and realized the booth was not simply a delayed shipment. I found that the company had tucked away our booth into a warehouse.

As time dwindled, I had to act fast. I booked a flight to Las Vegas to retrieve the booth myself. I ultimately bypassed the tradeshow sorting facility. I arranged a will-call and picked up the booth myself.

THE RESULT

Mission accomplished. As an added bonus, I received a $1900 refund from UPS for the shipment and my flight, hotel, and food expenses.

Physician & APP Education Events

I planned and ran 8 national clinical education programs for physicians and APPs. Most were physician trainings with 16-20 physicians each. I also ran two dedicated APP programs with ~60 attendees each. For each program, I managed hotel, meeting space, food and beverage, including at cadaver lab sites, along with attendee logistics and onsite execution, so each one ran smoothly from arrival to wrap up.

Other Examples of My Work

In 2013, I inherited a drab outdated booth, put together by velcro. No offense, but I had never seen anything like it then or since.

I created a more modern, uplifting, easy setup, with graphics that aligned with the company’s marketing.

More Than Tradeshows

Advertising for Industry Magazines

I created a $250,000 budget and all print and digital advertisements for industry publications. I worked with our R&D team for the technical content and with a graphic artist to design the material. I measured our results to forecast and determine the following year’s budget and plan.
